DESCRIPCION:
We know how important this vacation is for you, so we do not want you to have any doubts or lack anything during your trip to this wonder of the world, therefore, the guide will meet at your hotel 1 to 2 days previous to departure, to give you all the information, and answer everything related to your concerns and doubts.
We will pick-up at 4:30 a.m. in our private tour transport from your hotel to head towards km 82. On the way we will stop in the town of Ollantaytambo (1:45 hours approx.) to have optional breakfast, and take advantage to buy the things that we lack for the trip such as sunscreen, repellent, hat, etc.
Afterwards we will continue traveling an-hour trip to start the walk from PISKACUCHO Km 82 (2,720 meters / 8,923 feet), located at the foot of the snowy Veronica Wakay Huillca (5,700 meters / 18,700 feet), where we will meet with our personal cook and porters who will carry the camping equipment (food and camping stuff), so that we start the adventure with a relatively smooth ascent (Inca flat path). On the way we will observe to the first great archaeological center of Patallacta, from the viewpoint of Willcaracay; Inca construction used as a military zone, from there you will be guided by an extensive and knowledgeable tour leader.
LUNCH TIME.
Then we continue walking until we reach a very pleasant place along the bank of the Cusichaca River and enjoy the first lunch prepared by our chef; who will show us his cooking skills. Then we will continue with the hike for 2 more hours uphill and thus reach the AYAPATA camp (3,300 m / 10,829 ft); being this camp the furthest from the communities and classic camps, which shows that we will rest in a very quiet place.
This is a very challenging day and full of adrenaline; in which we will cross the biodiversity of the ecological floors of the Andean zone, and we will pass through the highest points of the entire Inca trail.
We will start the long walk after a delicious breakfast, ascending through the heart of the cloud forest formed by a variety of vegetation and the prevailing native trees. We will arrive to the highest spot of the Inca road after 4 hours of long walk, the pass of The Dead Woman’s Pass WARMIWAÑUSCA (4,215 meters/ 13,825 feet), here we will proudly give a sigh full of satisfaction for having achieved the challenge of reaching the highest point of the Inca road. From there we will be able to observe the amazing scenery of mountains, glaciers and steep valleys.
ALL THE WAY DOWN.
Then, we will descend towards PACAYMAYU’s valley (3,600 meters/ 11,800 feet) where our staff will prepare lunch that will reward your successful effort. Then we will continue with the ascent up to the second pass of RUNKU’s RACAY (3,950 mt./12,959 ft.). Half way up we will visit Runqu Racay archeological site. After we will continue for an hour of long walk to arrive at such cove or pass.
We will come across some very steep inclined Inca steps after an hour walking, to reach the Sayacmarca archeological site ( 3,657 meters /12,000 feet ), that along the horizon shows us an impressive sight of the high jungle and the tropical forest, which with the sunset creates an enigmatic scene, something like we would be following the Golden City
Also from here we will be able to see the CHAQUICOCHA camp (3,600 mt. / 11,800 ft ), that is after 25 minutes walking
After the hard effort, this day we will be rewarded with a short walk and we will have the pleasure of enjoying the landscape of the Andes and the high jungle and its magnificent Inca constructions that will make us feel stunned.
After tasting a delicious breakfast we will continue walking through the relatively flat cobbled Inca road for an hour and a half until the third pass of PHUYUPATAMARCA (3,700 meters / 12,140 feet), where we will be able to appreciate the whole Urubamba valley, the mountain ranges and its snowy mountains such as: Veronica (5,700 meters / 18,700 feet), Salkantay (6,271 meters / 20,574 feet) and Pumasillo (5,700 meters / 18,700 feet).
INTO PERUVIAN DENSE JUNGLE.
Then we will descend for 3 hours through the sub-tropical rain forest and visit the archaeological centers of Phuyupatamarca and Intipata. Lunch will be at the same camp site of WIÑAYWAYNA (2,650 meters / 8,694 feet). After taking a gratifying nap, and if we have a hot climate we will have the opportunity to shower with refreshing cold water from the mountains. Then we will visit the great archaeological center of Wiñaywayna known as the Mini Machupicchu, located 10 minutes from the camp.
This day is the most expected by all, because we will reach our destination and fulfill your dreams. We will get up very early (03:30 am) with a hot cup of tea or coffee; so we can start the adventure.
Our chef will prepare a take away breakfast. After checking in, we will go to the gate of the sun INTI PUNKU (2,720 m.s.n.m. 8,900 ft.), from where we will have a splendid panoramic view of Machu Picchu citadel and mountains at a distance.
Then we will continue walking for 45 minutes until we reach the upper part of Machu Picchu citadel, from where all the classic photographs are taken. After the photographs we will have free time to use the toilets and eat our snack before starting the guided tour into the city of Machupicchu. After the tour if you wish you can go up the mountain of HUAYNAPICCHU or MACHUPICCHU mountain, we recommend that you should make your reservation for the second shift.
NOTE: ACCORDING TO REGULATIONS TO CLIMB THE
MOUNTAIN HUAYNAPICCHU (2,700 M.S.N.M./8,858 FT.) AND DUE TO ITS POPULARITY, ONLY 200 PEOPLE CAN CLIMB IT BAILY IN 2 SHIFTS:
Therefore, reservations will be made in advance to get the tickets on the specific date.
After the tour and after having explored Machupicchu we will take the bus for 25 minutes to the town of Aguas Calientes and then go to the train station to board at the time depending on the service reserved for the next station Ollantaytambo or Poroy Eexpedition service), where our automobile will wait for you to take you back to your hotel in the city of Cusco.
WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE IN CLASSIC INCA TRAIL 4 DAY?
The weather in this region is unpredictable, where it can change frequently at any time of the year, having all the seasons of the year in a single day with very cold, wind, rain and sun. Hikers should be prepared with proper gear and be ready for variable weather conditions throughout the day. However, Cusco region has 2 marked seasons rain season (Sep-Apr) and dry season (May-Aug)
According to its abrupt geography mountain system and its variable relief full of deep valleys along the “Classic Inca trail” we will have a variable temperature during the 4 days of trek.
