Huchuy Qosqo Trek 1 Day

The best destinations for trekking lovers

The Huchuy Qosqo trek is one of the shortest but no less interesting treks in the surroundings of the capital of the Incas, the city of Cusco.

Huchuy Qosqo whose name comes from the Quechua language that means the small Cusco elevated 3,600 m, in the peasant community of the same name, its construction is attributed to the eighth Inca Wiracocha for his residence; archaeological group located on the Urubamba river basin (Vilcanota) to the north of the city of Cusco, from where you can see the Sacred Valley, the current town of Calca and the imposing snowy Pitusiray. Very beautiful walking or hiking route where you can appreciate and visit peasant communities and archaeological centers along the route. Recommended for visitors who have limited time but would like to take a short excursion in the Peruvian Andes.

Day 1: Patabamba-Huchuyqosqo-Lamay

Pick up from the hotel at 5:00 am, we travel by car for a time of 60 minutes to the community of Patabamba, where we will have our breakfast and then start our walk, this will be a day full of scenic and cultural experiences, we will pass by the small town of Sihuas and we continue along a path bordering one of the imposing mountains, to later be welcomed by the balcony of the valley, a name acquired for its location, from we can have impressive views of the Sacred Valley of the Inca, a place that thanks to the fertility of their lands were economic support in ancient times. Today, an area with the highest production of white corn or corn for export, we continue walking and ascend to the Pukamarca pass (4200 m / 13,799,527 feet) that dominates the town with the same name and opens our way to the beautiful Leon canyon Punku, prelude to our destiny. In this place we will take a short rest and taste a box lunch and then continue along an original Inca trail, which has been restored as part of the Qapacñan Project. This trail will take you to the isolated and mysterious Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo (little Cusco) perched on a small plateau above the Sacred Valley of the Incas at 3600m / 11,811.02364ft. Once at the site, our guide will show you all the incredible Inca buildings on the site, such as sacred temples, warehouses, terraces used in agriculture, and the Inca reservoir used to store water during the dry season.
